James Hickey, D.Min.

James R. Hickey, D. Min. serves as the Pastoral Associate at his home parish of Saint John Vianney in Mentor, Ohio (Diocese of Cleveland). Jim and his family became parishioners in 1990 and was involved in several ministries as a volunteer until early 2019 when he joined the staff of the parish. His areas of service are Bereavement and consolation, Home Bound Eucharistic Ministry, the Nourish for Caregivers Support group, Sacramental preparation, and provides ongoing faith formation programs for adults. Jim’s doctoral work deepened his love for the Blessed Mother and the Rosary, and these became the major topics for his presentations. Jim enjoys teaching his fellow parishioners and at various parishes and organizations in the diocese. 

Jim retains his volunteering as a Eucharistic Minister, the Festival Committee, parish Men’s Group. Jim’s other volunteer experiences include Advisory Board member - Birthright Lake, Inc., Board member – the Lake-Geauga Divorced and Separated Ministry, Council Chaplain and Chair of the Religious Relationships Committee - Scouting America, Region Six Chair - Catholic Scouting America, Cleveland Diocesan Catholic Committee on Scouting, the Lake-Geauga Catholic Committee on Scouting, and Chair of the Spiritual Care Advisory Board – Lake Health/University Hospitals of Cleveland.

Jim joined NALM in 2008 and currently serves as the Secretary for the Board as well as the Chair of the Development Committee and as a member of the Governance Committee.

Jim holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Cleveland State University, a Master of Science in Health Science Education from Case Western Reserve University, and a Doctor of Ministry degree from Saint Mary Seminary and Graduate School of Theology (Cleveland).
