Vision, Mission, and Value Statements of the National Association for Lay Ministry

Vision

The National Association for Lay Ministry promotes the co-responsibility of ordained and lay ministers to embody the saving mission of Christ for the World.

Mission

The National Association for Lay Ministry is a collaborative organization of lay, religious and ordained ministers that empowers, advocates for, and develops lay pastoral leadership and promotes the growth of lay pastoral ministry in the Catholic Church.

Values

Commitment

NALM is committed to the teachings and mission of Jesus Christ and the Roman Catholic Church.

Collaboration

NALM models and advocates for faith-filled collaboration between the lay, vowed religious, and ordained to promote co-responsibility in the Church’s ministry.

Community

NALM celebrates the variety of cultures and peoples that we serve and works to build a diverse and inclusive community among our members.

Empowerment

NALM promotes the essential role of the laity, by virtue of their Baptism, to use their charisms and gifts to build up the Body of Christ.

Advocacy

NALM provides a voice for Lay Ecclesial Ministry, lay pastoral ministry and lay leadership with the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops and national and diocesan lay ministerial organizations.

Formation

NALM fosters life-long learners, capable of reading the signs of the times and growing in their knowledge and skills for effective lay pastoral ministry and leadership.
