NALM and the Board of Directors mailed a letter to Cardinal DiNardo, President of the USCCB, expressing its concern about the state of the Church and NALM’s willingness to be a part of a solution to the tragedy of Sexual Abuse. Members of our Advocacy Committee were instrumental in creating the letter and it has the full support of the Board of Directors. Acopy of the letter was emailed to all NALM members.
Cardinal DiNardo responded to NALM’s letter dated September 28, 2018. In his letter, Cardinal DiNardo “welcomed NALM’s call for a need for co-responsibility in the Church amongst bishops, pastors, and lay ministers to ensure a safe environment for all in the Church.” He also appreciated NALM’s commitment for calling for lay leaders to be part of the solution.
He concluded his letter to NALM by thanking NALM for its prayers and to pray for God’s wisdom and strength for renewal by following St. Paul’s instruction: “Do not conform yourselves to this age but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and pleasing and perfect’ (Romans 12:2).”
