Annual NALM Roundtable for Pastoral Associates and Parish Life Coordinators

Wednesday, June 2, 2010

Radisson Hotel Pittsburgh Green Tree

101 Radisson Drive, Pittsburgh

“Treasure” is everything that God has given to us. Certainly our material wealth; the food and shelter we are privileged to enjoy, not to mention all the “extras” that make our lives feel abundant. But our treasure is more than just the material; it is also comprised of countless intangibles that bless us and make us who we are. These include the talents, passions, and commitments that give us the energy and insight to live faithfully and lead effectively day by day. In this day of prayer, learning and sharing, we’ll explore this “treasure” that is ours. Using the image of cultivating a garden, we’ll investigate how well we are stewarding that treasure. We’ll contemplate what it means that our treasure is in “earthen vessels.” Gathering those insights, we’ll ask: “How we can care for and grow God’s gifts to us so that we are even more effective and fulfilled as we share those gifts with others?” This honest and prayerful conversation is intended to lead to a place of renewal and to a personal recommitment to thoughtfully steward the gifts God has given us for ministry.

vanni small.gifFacilitator: Trish Sullivan Vanni, M.Div. is project director of the Emerging Models of Pastoral Leadership Project. Five national ministry organizations are collaborating on the project’s second phase, which over the next three years will develop a contemporary body of knowledge about parishes and parish leadership. The initiatives include researching multiple parish ministry, development of leadership in and for a multicultural church, parish staffing and compensation models, the next generation of parish ministry leadership, and the roles of business and finance councils. She is currently working on a Ph.D. in ecclesiology and organizational leadership theory at the Graduate Theological Union, Berkeley, CA. As the director of The Leaven Center, Trish developed an extensive national network of Catholic parishes that worked to identify and share the “best practices” of collaborative ministry.
